Ballinger ended its challenging non-district schedule against the Mason Punchers last Friday and although the Bearcats were defeated, 62-14, there were some good things that can be built upon. Offensively the Bearcats have a running back that can get the job done in Reid Matschek. Having Deaundre Manley back also added a spark to their passing game that had been missing recently. There are few, if any, teams left on the Bearcats schedule that will boast comparable talent to what the Bearcats faced with the Punchers. Defensively Ballinger needs to figure out a few things, namely getting consistent pressure against the pass and tackling through the football consistently. If the coaches and players can figure some of this out quickly then the Bearcats should be able to find a few more wins on their remaining schedule.
The Bearcats will travel to Big Lake to take on Reagan County this Friday, October 7th, at 7:30PM.
