Shirley Ann Wolverton 80, of Ballinger, Texas our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday evening, November 21, 2016. Nanny was born February 14, 1936 in Ballinger, Texas to W.C and Myrtle Dodson. She married the love of her life Max Wolverton on October 18, 1952 in Ballinger, and together they had three daughters, Dee Ann, Gwyn and Lisa. Shirley worked for thirty years in banking and then as a deputy tax collector for twenty three years for Runnels County Tax Office. Nan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Nanny loved family gatherings that consisted of playing cards, dominos and singing with her sisters. She had a passion for all kinds of music and would dance and sing with her kids and grandkids. Shirley was a member of the Seventh Street Baptist Church in Ballinger. When she was younger she was a member of choir and loved to sing. She always had a smile on her face and never met a stranger. Nan loved all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Guin Max Wolverton, parents W.C. and Myrtle Dodson, four sisters Lillian Feller, Christine Smith, Irene Farmer, and Billie Simpson; and two brothers, William C. Dodson and R.N. Dodson. She is survived by her loving daughters Dee Ann Anderson of Ballinger, Gwyn Sims and husband Jeff of Iraan and Lisa Arnold and husband Robert. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jared Anderson, Janet Anderson, Jennifer Perkins, Greg Gasser and his wife Crystal, and Jeremy Overby and his wife Joanna. Shirley was blessed to also be survived by 13 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly, numerous nieces and nephews, Scot and Steve Farmer, Charles Simpson, Patti Ledingham, Ronnie Smith, and several great nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Lange Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Dunn. Private burial will be at a later date. The family wants to thank Dr. Cummings and his staff at Shannon Medical Center, Dr. Seema Naik of San Antonio Methodist Hospital, and the fabulous staff Hospice of San Angelo for all their great care.
