The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated strong leadership and made a significant impact on growing the game of basketball within their communities, particularly for women and girls. It was established to highlight the lasting influence of Dawn Staley both on the court and beyond.
Mallon is in her sixth year at the helm of the Drexel women’s basketball team and 22nd overall with the program. The Dragons are coming off a 21-win season and their fifth trip to postseason play in six years. In her time as head coach, Mallon has won two CAA Championships, three regular season championships and has had six major CAA Award winners. In addition, Mallon was named the 2022 CAA Coach of the Year after the Dragons won the CAA Regular Season Championship and finished with a 28-6 record.
