WILLIAMSBURG — Fans of British television and PBS Masterpiece will have a chance to see the premiere episode of the final season of Grantchester ahead of its broadcast during a free community screening next month.

WHRO Public Media is hosting a screening premiere event Tuesday, June 2, at the Williamsburg Regional Library with two viewing times scheduled for 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. The event offers an early look at the first episode of the show’s eleventh and final season before it airs on national television.

Set in a small English village, the period crime drama follows Detective Inspector Geordie Keating and the local vicars who assist him in solving mysteries. The final season takes place during the summer of 1963 and focuses on themes of faith, identity and change as longtime characters face pivotal moments in their lives. The full season premieres Sunday, June 14, on PBS.

Admission to the screening is free, but registration is required.
