This Weekend’s Entertainment In North Wilmington – Town Square Delaware LIVE

Sitting at work on Friday, wishing to get out and do something different this weekend, but no clue where to go? Luckily for you, Delaware is a central hub of happenings and goings-on. Check out this round-up of 3 entertainment offerings you can check out this weekend in North Wilmington.

For the Game Enthusiast:

Tonight, May 22nd, Rockwood Museum opens its doors to host Coach Potato: Movies and Games Night in the Museum. Join fellow retro gamers for board games starting at 5:00 PM and parse through over 50 games from both the modern and vintage eras. The classic film viewing starts at 6:00, and this month it’s that 1951 classic Go For Broke. Stick around afterwards to discuss the film, or pop over to get one last round of Clue in before the event wraps up at 9:00. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase, and attendees can even enjoy a late night stroll through Rockwood’s galleries and gardens.

Event admission is pay-what-you-wish, and reservations are highly encouraged. To RSVP visit anc.apm.activecommunities.com/nccde/activity/search/detail/25203?onlineSiteId=0&from_original_cui=true.

For the Celtic Punk Music Lover:

Join John Byrne and his crew of musicians to celebrate the music of the Pogues at “Rum & Red Roses: A Tribute to the Pogues.” Existing fans of the Celtic punk band and curious newcomers alike can enjoy this concert celebration of traditional music turned on its head. As John Byrne himself says, according to the Queen’s website, “We’re just huge fans of The Pogues. Getting to play these songs and do them proper justice in front of other fans is an honor we don’t take lightly and a joy we’ll never take for granted.”

The show takes place Saturday, May 23rd, at 8:00 PM at the Crown at the Queen. Doors open at 7:00 PM. For more information, visit www.thequeenwilmington.com/events/rum-red-roses-a-tribute-to-the-pogues/

For the Nature Loving Artist:

Auburn Mansion is hosting a guided “plein air” experience focused on observing a historic landscape. “Plein air” is a French term used to describe art made entirely while outside: picture an artist at their easel, set up on a picturesque hilltop, painting the sunset as it happens. That artist could very well be you if you decide to join this event! As described by the event listing, “Using simple drawing or painting materials, participants will explore light, form, and seasonal details as a way of deepening connection to the landscape. All skill levels are welcome. Participants are encouraged to bring their own art supplies of any kind. The program includes brief interpretive context, individual creative exploration, and a closing reflection.”

Admission to the event is included with the purchase of park admission. Art supplies are available at the event for a donation, or participants can bring their own. For more information, visit www.destateparks.com/programs/seeing-the-landscape-a-plein-air-experience34/
