Biannual sculpture exhibition opens May 28

Wilson Arts invites the community to experience a bold and immersive exhibition opening Thursday, May 28, in the Truist Event Gallery at the Wilson Arts Center.

Running May 28 through June 30, this biannual invitational exhibition brings together a mix of local and regional artists whose work pushes the boundaries between two- and three-dimensional art. Through sculpture, mixed media, textured surfaces and inventive materials, the exhibition creates a gallery experience filled with movement, structure and surprise.

Visitors are encouraged to slow down, look closer and discover new perspectives around every corner.

The exhibition features 10 artists whose practices span a wide sculptural spectrum.

Representing Wilson are Kathi Blackmon, Elizabeth Laul Healey, Kim Hennes, Ash Hayford and Ezra Lambert. Joining them from Raleigh are Caprice McNeill, Tonya Solley Thornton, Tina Marcus and Oami Powers and Jennifer Siegel from Apex, each bringing distinct artistic voices and contemporary approaches into conversation with one another.

An opening reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 28, in the Truist Event Gallery at the Wilson Arts Center, located at 204 Nash St. S. in downtown Wilson.

Both the reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.

The exhibition is sponsored by Betsy and Hunter Rascoe, Casey Elliott Law and John Kirk.
