[Exclusive] LD Carbon Headquarters Raided Over Alleged Entertainment Provided to Former Vice Minister Lim Sangjun of Yoon Administration

The Anti-Corruption Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency conducted a search and seizure at the headquarters of LD Carbon and other locations on the morning of May 26, 2026.

According to reports, the police launched the search and seizure after detecting circumstances suggesting that Hwang, CEO of LD Carbon, provided entertainment to Lim Sangjun, Chairman of Korea Environment Corporation (and former Vice Minister of Environment), and applied charges including violations of the Improper Solicitation and Graft Act.

The police conducted a search and seizure not only at LD Carbon’s Seoul office in Jagok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, but also on Chairman Lim himself, confirming that they secured Lim’s mobile phone.

Founded in 2017, LD Carbon is a resource recycling startup that uses waste tires as its main raw material to produce carbon black, a tire material, as well as pyrolysis oil and paints.

Hwang, the founder and CEO of LD Carbon, was reappointed as CEO at the board meeting in April this year.

Lim, who served as Vice Minister of Environment from July 2023 to June 2024, was appointed Chairman of Korea Environment Corporation under the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment in January last year.
