Delta Goodrem held back tears as she discussed her incredible Eurovision performance and what it was like to represent Australia.

It was the Aussie singer’s first television appearance since competing in the annual song contest earlier this month, and she said it was an incredible journey.

While she emerged as a possible favourite to win the competition after an electrifying semi-final, she came fourth.

“It’s actually making me emotional getting to speak to you after all of this,” the 41-year-old told Sunrise.

Delta represented Australia at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, and her song ‘Eclipse’ wowed audiences.

For the semi-final, she stood on top of her piano in a stunning gold dress while flames erupted from the stage, before being elevated on a huge podium for the song’s final moments.

She added that stepping into the final, which was watched by hundreds of millions of people, was a wild experience.

“I think I went just wanting to be proud of what I did, and all you can ever do in life is, you know, just do your very best,” Delta said.

“I really went into it wanting to enjoy it. It's an honour to get to do that, and to represent.”

Delta was asked if the pedestal, which lifted from within her piano, was borrowed from Beyoncé, and she gave a slightly evasive answer - acknowledging the comparison without confirming it directly.

“Listen, there was, there was a lot of decisions leading into the staging… when we had had this conversation about lifting out the piano, I was so excited,” she said with a laugh.

“I knew we were flying it in from the US.

“I don't know exactly where it came from, but listen, if we can take Queen B's energy… I was very thankful for wherever my lift came from.”

Delta also touched on her new album Pure, set to release on November 6, describing it as a reflection of her diverse musical influences and a new chapter in her career.
