Lawmakers at the Statehouse are at odds over legislation for children's mental health insurance coverage.

House and Senate negotiators discussed the legislation in Concord on Tuesday.

State representatives want to work on the legislation over the next several months to ensure wrap-around services for children in mental health crisis will be covered by insurance.

Meanwhile, senators say now is the time to act.

"And now we're being asked, 'Well, we're going to wait another year or so, and have it go through next year, wait until September to see what we can come up with.' That's unacceptable," Senate President Sharon Carson said.

"We see there's very good intentions behind this effort, but there are some structural problems with the bill," said Rep. Keith Ammon.

While an agreement is unlikely at this point, lawmakers can return to the negotiating table until the end of the day Thursday.
