ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WITN) - An Eastern Carolina nonprofit focused on fighting food insecurity across the eastern and central regions is teaming up with some of the state’s top chefs for a fundraising competition next week in Rocky Mount.

Ripe for Revival will host its fourth annual “Chef Rival: A World of Flavors” event next Tuesday, June 2, at Rocky Mount Mills.

The event will raise money to purchase produce, meat, and poultry from area growers and make those items more affordable for families in need with the organization’s 10 mobile markets.

The culinary competition will feature four North Carolina chefs creating globally inspired dishes using ingredients from the nonprofit’s mobile markets.

JT Tyndall from Ripe for Rival and James Olivieri, owner of Lilyann’s Steakhouse in Rocky Mount, joined ENC at Three to share more about the event.
