Defense Wins Games – ALL-STAR

The conference finals are a perfect demonstration of the old adage “defense wins games.” The Cleveland Cavaliers (and their lack of defense) are on the verge of getting swept by the unstoppable New York Knicks.

The surging New York Knicks are on a 10-game winning streak in the playoffs. What a time to peak, and what a time to be a Knicks fan.

Game 1 was supposed to be Cleveland’s game with them leading by 20+ at a certain point in the second half, but the Knicks spammed their pick and roll with Jalen Brunson as the ball handle–taking advantage of a poor defensive gameplan with James Harden at the center.

The Cavaliers’ “pick your poison” style of defending which showcases Harden’s drop coverage has been allowing a lot of shots and points on the Knicks’ end. This was the scheme that allowed that late game surge in Game 1, which cost them the game

The Knicks’ momentum is apparent and a lot of pundits are predicting a sweep.

Game 4 is on Tuesday, May 26, 8:00AM Philippine Time.

DAILY FANTASY PICKS:

Captain: Jalen Brunson

Vice Captain: Donovan Mitchell

Key picks: Karl Anthony-Towns, Evan Mobley, James Harden, Jarrett Allen, OG Anunoby

Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been playing excellent defense on Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs, allowing them to win two straight games, including game 3 at San Antonio.

After Wembanyama’s insane game 1 performance, the Thunder have been successful in somewhat containing him by throwing bodies to keep him out of the paint (Hartenstein and Caruso). The Spurs haven’t been able to take advantage and have shot worse than the Thunder shooters.

De’Aaron Fox and Dylan Harper have been sort of injured and not 100% (who is at this point?), and these injuries are a big factor against the 12/15-deep Oklahoma squad.

Can the Spurs win game 4 at home and even the series 2-2?

Game 4 is on Monday, May 25, 8:00AM Philippine Time.

DAILY FANTASY PICKS:
