Waterfront Watch Parties kick off June 11, 12, 18 and 19

Die-hard soccer fans, families and anyone who wants to experience the excitement of one of the world’s biggest sporting events will have plenty to cheer for this June – and they won’t even need a ticket!

The City of Everett, the Port of Everett and Snohomish County Sports Commission have teamed up to bring FIFA World Cup action to the Everett waterfront, with a series of SeattleFWC26 Fan Zone Waterfront Watch Parties in Boxcar Park.

Four free, all-ages celebrations kick off Thursday, June 11 with live match broadcasts, entertainment, family activities, food trucks, beer gardens and an unforgettable waterfront atmosphere.

With the US co-hosting the global soccer tournament with Canada and Mexico, “this is a one-in-a-generation opportunity,” says Tyler Chism, Economic Development and Marketing Manager for the City of Everett. “We’re encouraging locals and visitors to join in the celebration with our family-friendly-meets-World-Cup-stadium event. And there’s lots of free, fun activities – the only cost will be for the food trucks or beer garden.”

All events include a pre-match DJ, emcee Jaime Mendez, a KIDZONE featuring Imagine Children’s Museum and local soccer clubs, a Game Truck gaming trailer and waterfront beer garden. June 11 and 19 afternoon events include a post-match DJ and foam party, while headline evening entertainers will close out the fun June 12 and 18.

Gates will open at 10 a.m. June 11 for a noon kick-off as Mexico takes on South Africa, then on Friday, June 12, Team USA takes the pitch against Paraguay, with doors opening at 4 p.m. for a 6 p.m. start.

Next, Mexico returns to the big screen against South Korea on Thursday, June 18, with doors opening at 4 p.m. for a 6 p.m. kick-off. Rounding out the watch parties on Friday, June 19, the United States faces Australia, with the fan zone opening at 10 a.m. for a noon game time.

“We already have an amazing events season here in Everett and a terrific sports community, so this is a great addition,” Chism says. “Whether you’re a soccer fan or you’re just looking for a fun, free festival, this is going to be an amazing experience.”
