JAKARTA – In recent years, tennis has undergone a shift in meaning among urban communities. This sport is no longer synonymous with competition alone, but also becomes part of a modern lifestyle that combines physical activity, to social relations.
This phenomenon can be seen from the increasing number of tennis communities, the trend of premium sportswear, to the presence of various tennis events that are more relaxed and exclusive.
This trend is reflected in the Serve & Social event held by Metro Tennis Terminal together with On Indonesia on May 10, 2026 at HQ Padel & Tennis, Pesanggrahan, Jakarta.
This event presents a more personal tennis experience through a combination of sports, community interaction, and product exploration.
During the event, the invited guests not only played tennis, but also tried on The Roger Pro 3 shoes, wearing tennis apparel from On, following a coaching session, to try out a number of the latest rackets through the racket demo program.
The event was also filled with networking sessions and interactions between communities involving sports, creative, and lifestyle activists in Jakarta.
A number of public figures were also present at this event, including Dion Wiyoko, Ernanda Putra, Ellyse Sinsilia, Aero Aswar, Aqsa Aswar, Aurelia Nadine, Joseph Sebastian, Cissylia Stefani van Leeuwen, Boy Pablo, to Iku Thaharia.
According to Michael Luhukay as CMO of Metro Tennis Terminal, the current development of tennis shows that the sport has become part of a wider urban culture.
“Tennis is in an exciting phase because it is no longer just seen as a competitive sport. Now tennis is also a space to build connections, maintain wellness, and part of a modern lifestyle,” Michael said in his statement to VOI, Monday, May 25.
He added that through Serve & Social, Metro Tennis Terminal wants to provide an experience that feels closer and more personal to the tennis community.
“Through events like this, we want to bring together players, creators, public figures, and brands in an experience that is more relevant to the current development of the tennis scene,” he said.
Michael also explained that Metro Tennis Terminal wants to build a racket sports ecosystem that does not only focus on product sales, but also the playing experience and interconnectivity between players.
“It’s not just about the product, but how people can feel more connected to the sport, the equipment, and the community. That’s the kind of experience we want to build,” he continued.
In the on-court session, participants received coaching sessions with professional coaches from Aspire Academy who have international experience, including being Novak Djokovic’s hitting partner and having a track record as an ATP Top 600 player. After the training session, participants took part in fun games and tried out various tennis equipment available.
In addition to presenting footwear and apparel from On, this event also provides racket demos from a number of the latest collections such as Yonex MUSE, Yonex VCORE 2026, to Babolat Pure Aero 2026. The presence of this trial session provides an opportunity for participants to get to know the character of tennis equipment that suits their playing style.
Managing Director of Metro Tennis Terminal, Dhananjay “Jay” Kuckreja, said that the concept of tennis retail is now beginning to evolve towards a more comprehensive experience.
“Players today are not only looking for products, but also want to understand the equipment that best suits their playing style. Therefore, experiences such as racket trials, consultations, and education are becoming increasingly important,” said Jay.
As a brand that has been present in the Indonesian racket sports industry since 1977, Metro Tennis Terminal strives to present a retail concept that combines community, playing experience, and lifestyle approach in one ecosystem.
