The Revolution returned to their winning ways at Gillette Stadium last weekend, taking down Minnesota United to continue their run as one of the league’s best home teams. The Revs have played just five of their 13 games on the road and while their away campaign started rocky with three consecutive losses, they found more success in their last two road games, earning four points against Atlanta United and Inter Miami.
The Revs hosted The Crown in Foxborough to start the month of May, earning a 1-0 victory. While it was a closely contested match, New England had nearly 57 percent of possession and outshot Charlotte 15-7. It will be an important game for the Revolution as they look to continue improving on their away form and end the first half of the season on a strong note ahead of the two-month FIFA World Cup break.

The Crown had a dominant 3-1 win over Toronto FC at Bank of America Stadium last Saturday night, ending a five-game winless streak, which included their loss at Gillette Stadium. Historically a strong side at home, Charlotte have once again been solid at Bank of America Stadium this season, going 4-2-2.
Finding a bit of momentum in their recent home victory, Charlotte will look to capitalize on it as they also play their last game before the World Cup. Last time the Revolution visited Charlotte, they walked away with all three points in a 1-0 win. All-time at Bank of America Stadium, the two teams have split their four meetings, each side earning two victories.
Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner
Matt Turner has been a key player for the Revolution many times this season, consistently making saves that have helped New England secure third place in the East. He’s recorded three clean sheets, including one against Charlotte FC, and continues to rank among the league’s top goalkeepers. Turner’s 57 saves place him fifth in MLS, while his 77.8 save percentage is the third‑best among all ‘keepers.
Last time out against Charlotte, Turner recorded three saves to preserve the shutout. With Saturday’s match serving as his final MLS opportunity to impress before the World Cup, the USMNT hopeful will be motivated to deliver one more standout performance and earn his spot on the U.S. roster.
Charlotte forward Wilfried Zaha
Wilfried Zaha is currently the second-highest goal contributor for The Crown with three goals and four assists. Last season, the attacker made a similar impact for Charlotte, with a second-best 10 goals and 10 assists. This year, all of Zaha’s goals have come in front of the home crowd – including his last time out against Toronto.
When Charlotte visited Gillette Stadium just a few weeks ago, Zaha played a heated match, resulting in three fouls and one yellow card. Zaha’s dominant presence in Charlotte this season will make him a tough opponent when the Revs come to town.
Head coach Marko Mitrović on key observations from the previous meeting with Charlotte FC:
“I don’t think that there is something in those two weeks that is a big difference. [Charlotte FC] have a little bit different set up when they build up, but there’s tendencies in their game that it’s kind of similar. Defensively, also, I feel we know enough about them, and I also feel they know enough about us. That’s a team that has, as I said, strong tendencies in the way they defend and the way they attack. They have a lot of talent higher on the field that, once you give them the space, they can use that space easily and create situations for them. We’re just working toward that game and to be ready.”
Assistant coach Blair Gavin on the how the team sticks together to push through difficult moments and environments:
“I think the word that we use a lot is togetherness, and the group has really bought into that – not only on the field but off the field. You see in these games with difficult circumstances, whether it’s home or on the road, the group is sticking together, and it has been nice to watch. It gives you an extra little motivation to make a further run, or get a tackle, or win the ball. Those moments add up throughout a match, and it has been great to see.”
Defender Mamadou Fofana on the team’s mindset heading into the last game before the league pauses the regular season for the FIFA World Cup:
“We know it’s the last game. It’s very important for us to finish well, because now we are third [in the Eastern Conference] and we want to keep the same level. We have to stay together and work, and like I said, we will get what we need.”
